Answer
Hello Alexandra,

I am afraid you have not given me enough information for me to be able to help you much with your question. I don't know your age or anything about your current diet. I also don't know how overweight you are. You recognise that you have a poor diet, but I don't understand why this is so. What is preventing you from eating fruit and vegetables? Does the problem begin with the eye, the mouth, swallowing or the actual digestion?

You already know it is not healthy to cut out fruit and veg from your diet. The longer your diet is without these ingredients, however, the harder it becomes to include them again. We tend to become lazy eaters. Processed carbohydrates, quick-fix proteins, and ready sugars are more tempting. Subsequently we flirt with health risks.

You probably also know that it takes a lot of will power and vision to chose healthy food over unhealthy food. It is not an easy choice,it takes effort on many fronts. A heatlhy diet takes considerable thought, throughout the day, every day. This is what makes food a means to higher awareness, selfknowledge and self-improvement.

By including fruit and vegetables in your diet you connect directly with solar forces, and etheric formative forces, this means cosmic energy which underlies meaningful health (of the soul as much as the body). It really will boil down to a change in attitude towards food, as a health stimulant, before you will appreciate including them in your diet. It will be a matter of getting out of a comfort zone and getting used to it, just like small children have to.

Sometimes we don't like certain food groups, however, because of an underlying health issue, or a grave soul imbalance. This may be temporary, due to trauma, or chronic. You will need to look for other clues to see if this may be the case. Some health conditions or allergies cannot allow for fruit or vegetables (seldom both at the same time though!) in a diet.

By eating wholewheat grains, like in bread, or crackers, rice, grits, muesli etc you will develop your palate. A mature palate is more likely to naturally ask for vegetables and fruit. Often with a severe eating disorder which is as exclusive to specific foodgroups as seems to be the case for you, the therapy is to choose one vegetable or fruit you dislike the least and train up on a small bite or portion of it every day. Then you expand to similar products.

Try to discover what you really don't like about the foodstuff If it is texture consider how it can be prepared differently. A raw carrot tastes very different to a cooked one. An apple can be made into sauce. Berries make good jams. Orange juice is a fruit too. Make sure you do not hide flavours with sugar or other sweetners. That may not help you at all - especially not if you have weight issues. However, if you choose organic produce, or very fresh (usually local and seasonal) products you will get much more flavour. Often we don't like veg and fruit becuase it tastes boring, watery, bitter, or even like plastic.Organic farming can go a long way to make the difference. Selecting items with special care can also improve your overall attitude and relationship to fruit and veg. A nice greengrocer's can advise you on what is in season and tastes best. A colourful cookery book can equally work inspirationally.

Adding veg to stews or sandwiches is sure to boost flavour or camouflage somewhat the flavour and texture of products you don't like much. Soups are brilliant ways to get small portions of many different types of veg. Make these predominantly from fresh products if possible
and stay away from condensed tins with additives and added sugar and salt.

It can be a long journey to change your eating habits. Don't worry about slow progress, the main thing is to stay motivated and that you take a small step each time in the right direction.

Hoping very much you will soon find the necessary inspiraton to enjoy some of the best (if not super!) foods around in fruit and vegetables, I send you warmest greetings,
Evelyn.
