QuestionI'm new to the idea of raw meat.
Someone told me if you freeze the meat for two weeks you kill all potential unhealthy bacteria. Is this true? Is it necessary? What are the potential danger of eating raw meat. Do to Ulcerative Colitis I have rather sensitive digestion. But because I'm losing blood, raw meat seems like a good idea.
Thanks.
AnswerNo, bacteria are only made dormant by freezing. It is claimed, however, that freezing for 14 days kills off any parasites. However this is totally unnecessary, as parasite-infestation is very rare indeed in the RVAF diet community, with the tiny number of RVAFers who get it having no discernible side-effects. Ironically, the hygiene hypothesis theory has shown that ulcerative colitis and other conditions can actually be relieved by the use of parasites:-

As for bacteria, they are not dangerous(unless present in a toxic environment such as raw, grainfed meats or cooked meats). Bacteria are essential, being needed to colonise the gut and make your digestion better. If you eat raw, aged meat, such as "high-meat", you will also find, like many RVAFers, that bacteria can even improve your mood:-
