QuestionHi Evelyn,
This is not a homework question; nor has it been answered before. How many tablespoons are in one gram of, say, cod liver oil?
Sincerely,
Angel
AnswerDear Angel,
This is not really a special diets question is it? Even if you are about to embark on a super health spree with a teaspoon of cod liver oil a day.
Furthemore, oil is a liquid, so it is not normal to think in terms of weight by gram. We use liters or fluid ounces.
Another confusion for me is that your Subject says 100 grams - but your question only asks about 1 gram. So I take it from there.
I can only draw from my expertise with essential oils: there are 5ml of oil in a teaspoon, and 100 drops in 5ml, so 20 drops in 1 ml. So with oil lighter than water, my maths runs out at this point! Besides one oil might be heavier than another - I am not quite sure, might be fun to find out.
In any case, no way can you think in TABLEspoons! Just imagine an egg (unshelled) in a tablespoon, and that already weighs around 50 grams. The best way to think about such small quantities of oil is in droppers. One gram of oil, or rather 1 ml would be about two (30 ml bottle) droppers full (they only fill up 1/3). Just enough for rubbing a sore shoulder in a massage.
If you want to carry on experimenting, a letter scales should give you a more exact answer. Or ask a chemistry or maths expert who can do the calculations with the mass of oil against the quantity required. Afraid, I skipped that class in school!
Take Care,
Evelyn.
