QuestionIn the 1960's, I joined Weight Watchers and did very well. Kept the weight off for a long time. The program they used was a diet by a Dr. Joliffe (Joliff, Jaliffe,Gioliffe I have no idea how it was spelled). They stopped using the program for something more nutritious, I believe. I have been trying to find this particular diet by Dr. Joliffe. No luck to date. Can you help?
It required 5 fish meals a week and not much beef, no pork, if this info helps.
Many thanks for whatever you can find. E
AnswerDr Norman Jolliffe was the originator of the diet upon which the Weight Watcher program was initially based in 1963.
Copies of his long out-of-print book, which includes his original plan, can still be found on Amazon.com
The title of the book is "Reduce and Stay Reduced on the Prudent Diet"

You might want to do further research on this specific diet or discuss the diet outline with your physician before resuming it. I am not personally familiar with the specifics of the plan and can offer no advice about it.
You my also want to download a more recent book that I believe is well worth reading, which helps you determine what type of diet bests suits your particular metabolism at the present time, keeping in mind that what worked well for you 50 years ago might not be optimal for you today.

Good luck - it just is not as easy now as it was when we were twenty, is it?
