QuestionHi, I'm 17, 5'3" and 115-117 pounds. I hate how skinny my legs are. I want them to be bigger. I only want to gain weight in my legs and tone my stomach. Ive tried everything from eating more than usual and doing ab work to exercising to not eating then eating. I have no idea how to go about this. Can you help me? I dont have measuring tape to tell you how big around they are but if thats needed ill do my best to measure them.
AnswerHi! I'm sure this isn't what you want to hear but it's difficult to lose or gain weight only is specific areas of your body. There isn't going to be much you can do with your diet to help with either of these areas except make sure you are taking in plenty of calories; you will need about 2200-2500 as a teen who is working out. You don't necessarily need more protein, but make sure you are getting pleny...about 8-12oz/day. The best way for you to "bulk up" a certain part of your body would be the exercising those muscles. If you build muscle in your thighs, your thighs will look bigger. I would recommend using weights and doing squats, leg lifts, leg presses. The weight is important because you want to build muscle. It is a little more difficult to gain weight with your stomach as muscles tend to become more defined than bulky there. I would recommend spending the money for one session with a good personal trainer near you. They can show you exercises to help you meet your goals and how to correctly do them in the one session. A legitimate personal trainer will understand you only need the one session and will not pressure you to purchase more. It won't happen over night but if you eat plenty and keep exercising, you should see some difference in a matter of weeks.
