If you would like to keep the weight off permanently I recommend that you do a lifestyle change instead of a diet. A diet will likely keep the weight off for a short period of time.
If you are not active start engaging in some physical activity that you enjoy. Try some form of aerobic 5 times weekly 30 - 40 minutes.
To reduce calories be conscious of your portion sizes.
1/2 cup rice or pasta is 1 portion
Consume plenty of fruits and vegetables
Reduce or save fried foods for special occasions.
Remove the skin from meats, chicken
Limit your intake of simple carbs like candy, cakes, cookies, ice cream etc.
DRINK PLENTY OF WATER
Limit your intake of breads to 1 - 3 servings
Once again consume plenty of vegetables, fruits, and exercise.
