QuestionDear Mark,
I am a healthy, 36 yr old stay at home Mom. I exercise 3x per week minimum doing cardio and strength training. I weigh approx. 130 lbs, 5'3". I have been trying to pay attention to my diet, specifically my protein intake which I think has always been low...I tend to steer toward carbs.
I recently started eating a good protein-enriched breakfast and find I have more energy, and it helps set the stage for a better, healthier eating day. I was making Egg Beaters but with a 21 month old son demanding his breakfast, tending to the stove was a challenge.
I started making protein shakes in my blender, using Kashi Go-Lean protein powder...I use the chocolate, with 1/2 c. skim milk, 1/2 c. water, 1/2 a banana, and about a 5 to 7 strawberries. The protein powder provides 7 g. of fiber on its own, plus more vitamins/minerals than other powders.
Can you recommend any other additives that I can sneak into this shake, that would benefit my health? Wheat germ? Vitamin E? Any vitamins or anything to benefit my stage in life?
Thanks, Linda
