QuestionKaren, I recently used an oral chelation formula which I believe left my ph very acidic. I'm trying to correct it with N-A-C, raw food diet,
WaterOz sodium as a hydroxide, melons, lemons & mineral supllements. I've read contrary information about what foods contribute to acidosis. Dr Mercola says sugar, alchohol, and caffine are alkilizers other say they are acid producing. What is your advice for correcting my ph?
AnswerHi Tim,
Despite what you might have read, it is not possible to significantly change your body pH through your diet. There is a lot of misinformation out there these days! Body pH is tightly controlled through a variety of biochemical mechanisms. Any significant change to pH outside of a very tight margin would cause serious illness or death. My advice is to follow a healthy, well balanced diet, including lots of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes. Although this doesn't sound very exciting, it is a diet that will promote optimal health. Limiting intake of sugar, alcohol and caffeine is also a good idea.
Hope that helps.
