Question Hello. I am sooo confused on weight management. This has never been my stong point anyway and now with all the talk of obesity I am even more confused than ever.
My question is this. I weigh between 145-150. It varies sometimes on when I weigh my self and if I am having PMS. I am about 5.5 inches tall.
I have been this size for about 5 years. Before that I was a bit smaller. This is before having my son.
I sometimes will go on an eating "binge" eating donuts and things. I feel REALLY guilty about this.
Does a few "naughty" splurges every so often make you gain weight?
If I eat a few extra things when and how much weight will I gain?
This is all confusing to me. Thanks.
AnswerHi,
A few binges may or may not cause weight gain. This depends on how fast your metabolism is. Any foods you consume whether it protein, carbs, for fat that is not used by the your as energy will be store as adipose tissue or body fat. It takes 3500 calories to make 1 pounds, so if you are consuming 500 extra calories every day in a week that your body is not burning it will cause a 1 pound weight gain.
The best thing to do is to know how many calories do you consume to maintain your weight. How many calories can you eat without gain weight? If you plan to eat snacks or extra things in a day, I would recommend that you exercise that morning or evening to assist in stabilizing your weight. You should always eat less on the days you are less active. You should delopment a program in which you will be able to do 3 - 5 day weekly for about 40 minutes at least. This will assist in preventing weight gain for those times when you want to have a splurge.
Warm Regards,
Helen
