QuestionHi there,
I have been following a pretty balanced diet in my opinion of about 1500-1600 calories a day for the past 9 weeks or so. I combined it with 4 cardio workouts a week and 4 strength training workouts a week and am about to come off of it having lost my final 10 pounds (I am 5' 8", 18 years old and now 132 pounds). I lost a steady rate of about 1-2 pounds per week. I am very nervous about maintaining this diet...I don't want to get stupid about food but after going through all this I don't want to put it straight back on, yet don't want to be constantly worrying and watching what I'm eating! I wondered if you could take the time to look at my diet and my proposed maintenance diet and assure me if I'm on the right track. I really appreciate your time!
USUAL DAY ON MY DIET:
Bran flakes and 1% milk
Banana
Tomato soup and 2 slices 100% whole wheat bread
Pistachios (handful)
Apple
Small orange
Balanced meal (ie chicken and vegetables, usually no carbs, or omelette or small serving of pasta - no more than 1 cup cooked - and salad)
2 squares of 70% cocoa chocolate (I'm a chocaholic and couldn't give that up!)
PROPOSED MAINTENANCE DIET:
Bran flakes and 1% milk
Banana and yogurt
Ham/chicken sandwich and salad or tomato soup and bread
Special K bar (I know most granola bars are loaded with sugar, these seemed pretty good to me!) and apple and orange
Pistachios
Balanced meal
Chocolate or digestive biscuit
