AnswerGracie,
Yes, I agree with eating a healthy diet to lose weight as opposed to eating "way less". It is a matter of changing some lifestyle habits and eating healthy most of the time. It doesn't mean you have to totally give up pizza, cake, etc... It just means that you eat those foods less often and healthier foods more often. And it also means watching your portion sizes when you eat those higher fat and higher calorie foods. THe changes you make need to be realistic.
Fruit IS good for you! Fruit does contain sugar but it is a natural sugar as opposed to an added sugar. Another words fruit does contain some sugar but ALSO contains lots of essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, and fiber for good health!! You should shoot for 2-4 servings of fruit per day!
There are all types of healthy foods and you should choose a balance from all the healthy foods each day. These include foods from lean meats, fruits, vegetables, starches (mostly whole grain as opposed to refined such as white bread) and low-fat or fat-free dairy products. If you eat a good balance of healthy foods and stay active you should do just fine. You don't need a specific list of foods! In fact eating too much of any food can cause you to gain weight. There is no one food that you can eat as much as you want of and you will lose weight. Once you get in ALL of the food groups for the day, if you are still hungry the best group to go over on is vegetables.
There is NO magic bullet. Weight loss is realistic lifestyle changes and adopting healthier habits for life!! Don't forget your water too. Shoot for 64 ounces per day!
Good Luck,
