QuestionHi there. I am about 30-40 pounds overweight. I was recently on the Weight Watchers plan and lost almost 30 pounds on it. However, after 4 months I am having trouble sticking with it because no matter what I do, I seem to be hungry all the time. I currently exercise at least 30 minutes a day, 3 days a week. I would like to maintain a healthy diet and not be 'on a diet'. I would like to develop a healthy lifestyle, but am unsure how to go about it without falling into the 'diet fad' trap. I've decided that the easiest thing to do would be to eat well balanced meals and continue to exercise. My problem is because I've been on Weight Watchers, I have become so 'point' obsessed and am having trouble meeting my 'well balanced' goal and feeling satisfied and not still hungry. I wanted to know how many calories I should be consuming to a) live and b) lose weight. I calculated, after 4 months, that on WW, I was consuming less than or equal to 1200 calories. Although that seemed to work for me, it is hard for me to feel satisfied. If I am supposed to be consuming this many calories or less, do you have any healthy suggestions for feelings of fullness (water doesn't work.)?
AnswerHi Jennifer,
You should be on more calories. Visit www.toolsforlife.cc to determine your maintenance requirements. Since you are used to much less add 100 calories per day per week until you gain weight and the maintain that level until you start to go back down and then add 100 calories per day per week. To lose you should be at 500 less than maintenance per day.
Let me know any other questions.
