QuestionI am currently on the weight watcher program. Have lost 16 pounds with 10 more to go. Things are great except for a loose pouch of crap that is hanging around my waist. There is a roll about 1-1/2 to 2 inches floating inside loose skin. I look horrible with a shirt off. Will this eventually go away? or how do I get rid of it?
Thanks,
DW
AnswerGood for you! It sounds like you lost this relatively quickly and your skin just hasn't had a chance to catch up, but it will. Depending on your age, it could be pretty fast, or it could take a while. Even years. Sometimes, surgery is necessary to remove excess skin, but this is often only when huge weight loss, like 100 lbs or more, happens.
Ideal exercise for overall body tone is swimming of ANY kind. The next best is brisk walking while focusing on 'holding muscles in' (it takes lots of attention and practice to not just hold your breath, but just tighten muscles).
The old standby sit ups, 'air bicycling' (lay on your back, hold hips up a bit and pedal your legs, while keeping abs firm).
All in all, time is the best friend you have.
Some advice about WW - is to incorporate learning a new lifestyle of eating rather than following a 'diet'. If you ever "go off" an eating plan/diet, there's a nearly 100% occurance of regaining of weight, plus more. So, it's better (first hand experience here) to just know what you should be eating, not deny yourself anything and not rely on lists, pre-packaged foods, etc. (eventually anyway).
