Question Hello, I am just curious about something.
I have always done a little exercising, I lift weights and stretch, along with crunches. (3-5 times a week on average) I am also fairly active with daily activities, cleaning etc.
Recently my husband and I have been walking alot, a pedometer says I am walking about 9000 steps a day. (maybe more, we just got them) Our walks are on hilled roads, so they really use the muscle power at times.
I am a female,26 years old 5'6 145 pounds. I eat a regular diet, not too much fat etc.
Since my husband and I have been walking I have noticed the pound or two I sometimes gained from over indulging is non existant. I may have even lost a couple pounds.
I have been eating the same sometimes even more. Can walking really be this good for maintaning and losing weight?
Thanks.
AnswerR,
In a word, "Yes".
Regular exercise is one of the best ways to hold off the slow weight gain that happens as we get older and our metabolism slows down.
"Shape Up America" has the "10,000 Steps Program", check it out: http://www.shapeup.org/10000steps.html
Keep up the good work.
