QuestionMost of the time I eat in a cafeteria and I don't know how to tell portion size. So for example they serve me something like beef macoroni and it takes up half of the plate how do I tell what cup size it is?
AnswerHello Jasmine,
These web pages should give you an idea of how much you should be eating:
http://www.usda.gov/cnpp/Pubs/Brochures/HowMuchAreYouEating.pdf
http://www.usda.gov/cnpp/Pubs/Brochures/DGFavFoods.pdf
http://www.niddk.nih.gov/health/nutrit/pubs/justenuff/justenough.htm
If you are able to actually measure foods out using measuring cups, spoons, etc... a few times it can give you an idea when you eat out or at a cafeteria how much you are eating. Also, if you eat at cafeteria ALL of their portion sizes are pre-measured so ask the person that is serving you how big of a serving size they are serving you.
Thank you,
