QuestionI am a venezuelan man, 41, and keep all day long visiting the refrigerator looking for fruits: oranges, guayabas, pieces of water melon.
My question is: Am I adicted to carbohidrats?
I am taking pills of remeron, antidepresant, and I am getting fat.
What should I do?
Thank you
AnswerJose,
No, I would not say you are addicted to carbohydrates. Fruits are an important part of your diet. The key is balance and ensuring you eat from all of the food groups each day in a healthy balance. That includes starches (preferrably whole grain), fruit, vegetables, lean meats and low fat or fat free dairy products. Staying at or reaching a healthy weight takes looking at how much you eat, what you eat and how many calories you burn through exercise and everyday lifestyle. It is about making permanent lifestyle changes! You may want to speak with your doctor about the medications you are taking and if any of them can cause weight gain. Secondly if you are truly worried about your weight I would see a registered dietitian that can help you take a look at what you are eating and make any necessary changes.
Thank you,
