QuestionHi Karen,
Do you know or can you perhaps put me in touch with someone who grows sprouts to eat?
I understand that it is fast becoming one of the most nutritional ways of eating.
Thanks.
AnswerHi Lin,
Sprouts are indeed very nutritious. The safest and cheapest way to get sprouts is to grow them yourself! Commercially grown sprouts often contain high levels of bacteria and that's why I would recommend growing your own. It is quite a simple process and there are a number of books available on how to grow sprouts. Try _The Sprout Garden_ by Mark Braunstein or _Sprout It!_ by Steve Meyerowitz, or visit www.sprouting.com.
If you prefer not to "do it yourself", I would suggest trying to find a small local sprouting operation (perhaps through a farmer's market or food coop), which is likely to have better quality sprouts with less bacterial contamination than a large-scale operation.
Hope that helps!
Karen
