QuestionI heard that olive oil is healthier oil to eat than many others, but I also heard that olive oil is bad for frying fish or other foods. Is it true and if so what kind of oil is the best to fry fish?
Thanks.
AnswerWojtek,
I remember answering this question for you before.
Olive oil is possibly the "healthiest" oil, but it tastes bad if it is heated too much - the high heat breaks it down. Therefore, deep frying with olive oil is not a good idea. Also, frying foods is not the most healthy way to prepare foods, so don't expect to make it good for you - lots of extra calories.
You could try frying your fish in canola oil or vegetable oil. I think the taste of the food will determine what you use. Would you actually eat a food that tastes bad just because it's fried in a healthier oil?
Personally, I eat my fish baked or grilled. Mmmmm.
