QuestionHello Kimberly,
I have a question about diets. I am 24 yesrs old 145 pounds and have a 2 year old son. After I gave brith to him I went back to my pre pregnancy weight very quickly.BUT I went to my check up a month ago and now I weigh as much as I did when I was 9 months pregnant!
I try and cook healty and watch my calorie and fat intake. I was exercising 3 days (pilates videos and weights)a week but got out of the habbit...I am trying to get back to where I was before physically.
I found that exercising made a little bit of a differnece with my diet and I hope to see the results soon again, but I cant seem to get to the weight I want to be at! I have cut my calories to 1,400 a day but that dosent seem to work either. I have even taken Matabo Life as a last resort. I know that I will never look like I did befor I had my son but I would like to be able to look a bit less chubby. I don't know what to do!
Thank you
Leah
AnswerLeah,
I'm glad to hear that you've taken that important first step of looking to make positive dietary and exercise changes that will improve your health and well-being. Forget the pills or fad diets. That is NOT the way to go and a waste of your money! You have to be patient with weight loss. Permanent weight loss takes time! You should focus on making permanent changes in your eating habits and exercise habits.
In order to answer your questions in a thoughtful and complete manner and in a way that would help you with successful change, I would need a lot more detail about your current eating style and your long-term goals. In general a calorie level of 1400 should be an adequate level for a women to lose weight. However, again I can't say specificially unless I was working with you one-on-one. Nutritional counseling is an individualized treatment approach, customized for your history as well as your particular likes, dislikes, calorie needs, nutrient needs, and fitness goals.
I recommend setting up an appointment with a registered dietitian. To find a dietitian in your area, go to
this site: www.eatright.org and use the "Find a nutrition professional" feature at the bottom left.
I also provide ONLINE services. If interested check out www.Nutrifocus.net.
Thank you,
Kim Tessmer, RDLD
