Answerdianne,
Here is the low-down on triglycerides. Triglycerides are often easily controlled, or at least decreased, by simple diet and exercise. First, it is best to decrease or avoid simple carbohydrates. Simple carbohydrates are foods and drinks that are high in sugar; such as candy, cookies, cakes, soda pop, fruit juice and alcohol. This means that foods with WHOLE grains and fiber are very good. Of course, it is a good idea to limit high-fat meats and dairy products (for all of us), but decreasing simple carbohydrates is where you should focus your energy. for more on triglycerides, go to:

Also, getting regular exercise can do a lot for decreasing triglycerides. It is recommended that every adult get at least 20-30 minutes (up to 60 minutes) most, if not all days of the week. This amount has been proven to give the most benefit to adults in reducing their weight and also their risk of cardiovascular disease (heart attack and stroke).
There are a few other things that can contribute to increased triglycerides:
* Estrogen replacement PILLS (not the patch)
* Poorly controlled diabetes
* Smoking
In summary - less sugars, more exercise.
Best of luck.
