Question
Hello,
I am a 28 yr old male, 5'10", 230 lbs. About six months ago, I
lost about twenty pounds, now I see my gut slowly growing
again. The reason is a retreat from much of the excersise I did
and of course poor eating and drinking. I love to run on the
treadmill and punch the heavy bag, but I don't like weights at all.
I do however like to workout with a 10lb medicine ball. Can you
help me get on a routine that will lead me to 200lbs ASAP using
these activities? I'd also love to hear your ideas about diet. My
job is a social one that sometimes leads me to intake some
alchohol. I thank you and appreciate your thoughts and time.

Answer
Hi Evan

To lose 20 pounds you need to increase activity. You don't necessarily have to lift weights...just do what you enjoy. Exercise a minimum of 3 times a week for 20 minutes. Exercise works by increasing your metabolism and burning calories

To lose weight you need to burn more calories than you take in. A great book to help is the "Paleo Diet" by Loren Cordain

Weight gain from alcohol is from our bodies using the alcohol as fuel. So any other calories are easily converted to fat
