cholesterol and brain

Question
Hello Mrs Bublitz,

i have a question, suppose i have excessive cholestetol, does this condition will effect my brain work?

Thank You in advance Mrs Bubllitz

Kind Regards,

Yudi

Answer
Yudi,

High cholesterol is a risk factor for cardiovascular disease, which includes heart attacks and strokes and TIA's (transient ischemic attacks or "mini-strokes").  A stroke or TIA could effect your brain function.  Also, it is theorized that high cholesterol could be a risk factor for Alzheimer's disease.

On a daily basis, however, without having cardiovascular disease or Alzheimer's disease, high cholesterol will not effect your brain function.

I hope this helps.
