QuestionI am 5'6" and about 125 lbs but whenever I gain the smallest amount of weight it goes right to my belly which I hate. I want to loose 5 or ten pounds now. I have sugar cravings and soda too and it's so hard when you are bored at work sitting at your desk not to open that drawer and munch on something. What can I do right now to start loosing a couple pounds. I have a special event coming up and should have started two weeks ago. Thanks for your help!

The first thing you need to do is cut down on the sugar and soda. That will add extra calories you do not need. Drink water instead of soda! You have to just change your habits! DO NOT have sugary foods available at your desk. Instead replace them with healthier foods so when you get bored and get hungry you have healthier foods to snack on such as baby carrots or other raw veggies, fruit, low fat yogurt, nuts, rice cakes, pretzels, popcorn, etc... If the sugary foods are there you will eat them so get rid of them!!
Take a look at the rest of your diet. Make sure you are eating AT least 3 meals per day. DO NOT skip meals. It is best to eat three healthy meals with healthy snacks in between. Make sure you are eating from ALL of the food groups each day and watch your portion sizes. It helps to write down what you are eating to help keep track and keep you committed. Drinks lots of water and do away with high calorie beverages such as soda. Exercise is the other VERY important part of maintaining a healthy weight! You have to do it regularly and be consistent!
At 125# and 5'6" you are NOT overweight. You may just need to make some changes to your diet and start some exercise to maintain a healthy weight.
