Question
I'm on a special eating plan..fresh fruit & vegetables and very little lean meats..but use beef jerkey (from local  meat processing plant)  to replace my fast food eating & cigarette smoking during my lunch hour...is the jerkey eating helping or hindering my food plan for weight loss? (I also fill in with sunflower seeds. I do not have a problem with any health issues, except the obesity..not high blood pressure etc etc)

Dear Linda,

     Thanks for your nutrition question.  Beef Jerky is low in fat(2.5) so it would not hinder your weight loss efforts.  Beef Jerky also contains zinc, protein, and iron. It is a little high in salt however, so you have to eat it in moderation.  Hope this helps.
