QuestionI am a 26-year old male weighing 176 lbs.
Is brocolli and cheese soup healthy?
If yes, how many times in a week do you recommend its consumption?
Can this be substituted for a meal, say dinner?
What is your advice on soy consumption?
Thanks
AnswerIt depends on how the soup is made. If it is made with whole fat cheese and whole milk it is going to be high in fat, saturated fat, cholesterol and calories. If you make it yourself and it is made with low-fat cheese and fat free milk as well as lots of broccoli, it will be much healthier.
There is no recommendation to its consumption because it depends on what else you eat in a day. One food does not make up your entire diet. You have to fit it in to other foods you eat. It can be used as a dinner occassionally if it is prepared in a healthy manner but again depends on what you eat the rest of the day.
Soy consumption is fine if you enjoy soy foods and do so in moderation.
