eating late

Question
I have read more than a few articles in health magazines warning against late snacks.  Some experts there have even gone on to say that the fat going straight to the gut makes the stomach expand and may leave a permanent bulge.

Of course, I learn all this well after several years of midnight-or-later dining.  (My past job had unusual hours)

My question is, are the gut-busting effects of eating just before sleep truly irreversible?  Is there no hope for me, even after diligent exercise and careful dieting?  I thank you for your help.

Answer
I think there is no hope for health magazines. They print what pushed your buttons to buy, couldn't care less about your physical or mental health.

Eat smart when you start to feel hungry, you body can tell you what it needs, when and how much if you give it good, REAL food.

The hype about eating late is from many people who don't eat much all day, than go ape at night - so they wake up not hungry, and start the whole vicious cycle again. When you mess with your appeite, it will backfire.

Yes, people get bulges, that they diet and exercise to get rid of and get nowhere. Then they quit eating junk like white flour AND ESP. refined sugar and away it goes.
