QuestionHi,
I am 180lbs,. 5'11". I am working out really hard to earn my six pack by August 25th. It there any foods other then the obvious green.. Is there any food that is attually help in the process.
My second question if you may answer is that during dieting it is very mportant not to eat late night. Though I stay away from meals after 8pm, I box until 11:30 at night. What can I eat at that time which wont effect my diet in a negative way,. and actually be good for me...
thank you so much Karen,
Abbas
AnswerHi Abbas,
There are no "magic" foods that will help you get that six pack! A low fat diet with plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains and legumes, and smaller amounts of dairy (or other high calcium foods) and lean meats and/or protein-rich plant foods will help you achieve your goal. You also need to do regular cardiovascular exercise to reduce your body fat levels (even if your abs are very toned, you won't see it if you have a layer of fat over top!)
You should definitely have a snack after your boxing sessions. Eating within an hour after exercising is optimal for replenishing glycogen stores used during exercise. A combination of carbohydrates and protein is best. Some suggestions would be: a bagel with peanut butter, a sandwich with lean meat and a piece of fruit, an energy bar (e.g. powerbar), or even a bowl of cereal with some milk.
For more detailed information on training diets, I would recommend reading _Nancy Clark's Sports Nutrition Guidebook_ by Nancy Clark.
Hope that helps!
Karen
