QuestionHello,
During the filing of the 1978 hit "The Deer Hunter", Christopher Walken ate nothing but rice and bananas for several weeks to aquire a skinny build. I am 18 and a bit overweight. Would the same diet work for me? If that is not safe, do you have any other suggestions. Thanks!Jay
AnswerHello Jay!
Thank you for your nutrition question. I would not recommend a rice and banana diet because you would be missing alot of important nutrients. People that lose weight on diets like that usually put it back on in the long run.
Weight loss is a very gradual process which requires your body burn more calories then it takes in. This means you must eat right(5-9 fruits and veggies)and exercise.
One thing you can do to lose weight is eat smaller more frequent meals throughout your day. If you usually eat 3 big meals try eating 3 smaller meals with snacks such as almonds or low fat yogurt. This will help to boost your metabolism(rate which you burn calories).
Another suggestion is to be more physically active. Try taking a 30 minute walk daily, light weightlifting, swimming or bikeriding. These will all boost your metabolism as well.
There is also a whole food nutrition supplement on my website http://www.juiceblend.com that can help you burn calories more efficiently. It is made from fresh fruits and vegetables. Why not give it a try for 4 months and see the results? Many of my patients have seen great success on it. Let me know if you have more questions.
