QuestionMy daughter recently started the pre-k program at a local elementary school. She doesn't want to eat the cafeteria food, she has been wanting me to pack her a lunch each day. I need some ideas, mostly because she is picky and there is not a microwave available to her since she is only 4yrs old.
I need some inexpensive ideas, I feel bad sending her a sandwich everyday. I'm going to look for a good thermos that I can put something hot in and she will have something warm to eat at lunch time. She's not overweight, in her age bracket she is in the 75% for wieght and 90% for height.
Any ideas are welcome.
AnswerHello Jannae!
Thank you for your nutrition question. There are many nutritious foods which you can pack for your little one. Here are a few inexpensive ideas instead of a sandwich: quick and easy burrito filled with diced chicken and tomatoes, 3- 4 baked chicken nuggets with honey mustard, sliced and quartered hot dog, and mac-n-cheese.
Here are also a few snack ideas that kids just love: apple sauce, raisins, dried fruit, fruit yogurt(ie. Gogurt), pears, oranges, melon, graham crackers, peanut butter and crackers; celery or carrot sticks with cream cheese. Hope this helps
