Want to eat healthy, but hate to cook!

Question
I'm 29 years old and have struggled with my weight for the past 6 or 7 years.  Currently, I'm 5'3" and weigh 160 lbs.  This is the heaviest I've even been.  I want to eat healthier, but the only diet I've been able to stick to (when I try) is Weight Watchers.  It works well for me when I actually stick with it (that's another issue altogether!).  The only thing I don't like about it is that it tends to consist of mainly processed foods and artificial sweeteners.  I lean on those foods because they are easy.  I don't have a lot of time or inclination to spend hours preparing foods.  I recently tried a diet that was all natural food, I didn't eat one frozen meal the whole time.  It was mildly successful, but I was spending 3 hours on Sunday preparing food for the week for lunches and then probably about an hour a day on preparing food for dinner.  I just don't have the time, plus, it was REALLY expensive.  Is there a way to eat healthy and not spend my life in the kitchen?

Answer
Hi Jennifer,

Just flush the notion of going on/off diets and accept the notion of changing your food gathering and eating habits for life.

Congrats on catchng on to processed foods not being the answer. Empty food leaves you empty, and eating. Cooking can be simpler, AND when you get what you need, feel satisfaction and energetic after eating, it is addictive, the the highest and best use of your time. It can take some hunting and improvising, but realize real food is not the big bucks industry dieting is.

Real food is fresh produce and whole grains and an optional serving of meat a day. Lots of plain water. Artificial sweets stimulate your appetite - folks switch from reg. to diet sodas and wonder why they gain instead of losing.

Exercise - once a week, spend 30 minutes in slow moving, non-stopping resistance training, 5 minutes per 6 muscle groups. 5 one minute situps a week is more effective than 500 a day.
