Headaches?

Question
Hi,
Im trying to lose weight, but when I cut down my starch intake, and to a lesser extent protein, and add veges or fruit instead i find I get headaches in the afternoon and feel a bit ill and tired. What could be causing this, and what are some good low fat/low calorie foods that might combat this that I can snack on in the afternoon?
Thanks

Answer
Hello Sarah!

Thank you for your nutrition question.
A headache is one of the symptoms of low blood sugar and is very typical when dieting.  Eating regularly (every three hours) will help, because long times between meals can cause headaches. Its probably not the fruit causing the headache but that you are not getting enough calories into your diet. Dieting, dehydration, or skipping meals may also cause headaches. By tracking your headache episodes through your headache diary, you may be able to identify specific foods that trigger your headaches.
What I would recommend is going to the following website www.mypyramid.gov to design a weight loss eating plan specifically to your tastes that contains the right amount of servings from each food group.  Let me know if you have more questions.
