QuestionHi' I am currently weight training and have to take in alot of calories to regain muscle can you please compile a list of high calorie foods.
AnswerJustin,
You want to stick with high calorie foods that are also nutritious! You want to also make sure you include ALL of the food groups each day and eat an all around healthy diet! You can check out the Food Pyramid (www.mypyramid.gov) to get an idea of what YOU might need. For more calories, stick to the higher end of the serving ranges.
Some foods that are higher in calories and nutritious can include:
peanut butter
nuts
dried fruits
dry milk powder, which can be added to soups, casseroles,etc...
milkshakes made with low-fat milk and ice cream
lean meats, poultry, fatty fish
whole grains such as breads, pasta, cereals
vegetable oils (such as olive oil)
hummus
granola
potatoes
This is only a partial list. I suggest continuing to do research on this subject and seeking the help of a dietitian in your area that can help to plan a diet plan specific to your needs! You don't only need more calories but you need to make sure they are in the correct proportion of carbs to protein to fat and that you are getting the caloric level that you need. To do this you need to work with someone on an individual basis.
