QuestionThank you first of all.
I liked your profile the best, and the truth is I am ready for change. I am overweight and remember being thin and pretty and want my life back.
I eat terrible, a lot of fast food and quick stuff and it needs to change. My mental status needs to accept the change and this is why I came to you. I know the drill, stop eating junk, exercise , and get off my butt.. but truthfully I just need to learn how to keep that mantra within me. I need to lose about 90 pounds now and I need to stick to something strong to keep up with change. Can you offer some advice on how to begin this or any tricks you might know to keep me focused on the goal at hand?
AnswerHi Tammy,
Quit beating yourself up, and yes, okay, you ate it, but too much energy goes into notions of will power when what is/was going on is chemical.
Yes, figure out what junk is - when you eat what you need, you don't over eat; when you don't get what you need, you keep on being hungry, eating. Healthy does not mean expensive and time consuming, and feeling good is more addictive than empty food if you give it a chance. Exercise does not mean boredom and pain. I prefer the term "play".
Realizing that you have to change FOR LIFE, not just get on a temporary program to "fix" some "gee, how did that get there?" fat is a great start.
You are out to be healthy. There is no higher use of your time and energy, your health is your quality of life. Looking better is just a side effect.
