serving size question

Question
How can I determine if a serving size means cooked, or not cooked? For example, looking at a pasta lable, it says the serving size for 2 OZ is 180 calories. Would it be 180 calories for 2 OZ raw, just out of the box? Or after it has been cooked?

Thanks!

Answer
Hello Kristy!

Thank you for your nutrition question.  The serving size on the back of a food label is usually for non cooked items. Nutrient data for cooked foods are generally not available.  If you would like to check on the nutrition information of a particular food after it has been cooked visit the following link and enter the food that you are searching for at http://www.nal.usda.gov/fnic/foodcomp/search/
