QuestionSince moving from the midwest to Arizona, and in the last 6 years, I have developed many cysts. I have had one removed from my hand. I have one in my cheek. Several in my groin area. And now, a large ovarian cyst/mass. I will be undergoing a hysterectomy. I am 57. Are the development of cysts related to diet? or age? or, perhaps surroundings? My daughter has demanded I check with a nutritionist prior to my hysterectomy. Any direction/assistance you could provide would be most appreciated. Thanks.
AnswerHello,
Cysts develop as a result of infection, clogging of sebaceous glands, or around foreign bodies. They can also result from developmental abnormalities such as a pilonidal cyst (pilonidal dimple).
The development of cysts can be attributed to various factors such as diet, age, and environment. Since the cysts developed when you moved to Arizona it is possible there is something in the environment there that may be affecting you. Do you live near an industrial area where there might be pollution nearby possibly?
One suggestion I would make is checking out a supplement called Juice plus which contains the nutrients from fresh fruits and vegetables. It can be very protective because it contains antioxidants which protect our cells. It can be purchased at www.juicblend.com Let me know if you have more questions about it.
