QuestionI am a 37 year old female with a 9mth old. I have been doing "smart" carbs, lean proteins, vegies etc, and working out for about an hour 5 days a week for months now, i haven't lost ANY weight. I recently started counting my calories in conjunction with healthy eating and average 1600 per day *I'm 5'9*. I have been blood tested for thyroid, all results are fine, my cholesterol is 157. I do not have any of the hypothryoid symptoms other than the fatique and inability to loose weight. any suggestions where to go from here?
AnswerHello Laura,
Thank you for your nutrition question. Do not be discouraged if you don't see weight loss immediately. Sometimes it takes a little longer for the metabolism(rate which your body burns calories) to get revving. In addition, the scale is not always the best predictor. Have you noticed if your clothes are feeling looser? Sometimes we build muscle and lose fat instead.
I would recommend sticking with your healthy lifestyle however, you may want to try eating small frequent meals throughout your day to help boost your metabolism. Instead of 3 regular meals daily try 3 small mini meals(400 calories each) and 2 snacks at 100 calories each. Remember to never skip meals because this causes your body to hang on to the calories longer. Keep on moving and you will see results!
