QuestionMy weight seems to fluctuate between 150 pounds and 160 pounds and I am 5'6" and 17 years old...and through those numbers you can tell I am slightly overweight and I am trying to lose that weight by eat right and working out, but my endurance is horrible and I only work for maybe 15-20 minutes and then I rest for the rest of the day and I unsure if that is even affecting my weight and I my diet consists of oatmeal and blue berries for breakfast and a turkey sandwich for lunch and pasta for dinner..what do you think I could do to improve my diet? and do you think working out for that short of a time is affecting my weight in a positive fashion?
AnswerDear Joey, any exercise is better than no exercise, so even 15 minutes will help. If you really want to lose weight, get yourself out walking for thirty minutes per day. You can split that up into two 15 minutes walks spaced out if you have to. Your foods are high in carbohydrates. Carbohydrates tend to hold fluid in the body and that might be why your weight is fluctuating. Change your diet to higher protein. Try to eat a protein food at each meal and limit pasta if you can. The normal portion size for pasta is only 1/2 cup, so chances are you have been overeating it. Higher protein foods are: eggs and egg whites, tuna fish, any fish, chicken, lean meats, pork, beans, high protein cereal, and low fat dairy products. Mix fruit and vegetables with these protein foods for a healthy diet. Give it a try for a month and see how you feel. Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
