QuestionI am a 19 year old guy that weighs 200 pounds and an am 6'1, and i wear a size 44 suit.It seems that every year i gain about 10 pounds. I exercise and my stomach is still getting fatter. Even though i like to eat i'm almost the biggest guy in my family. my father was a BIG guy(husky not obese) and i think i going to end up like him.I want to lose weight but i think no matter what i do i'll just keep getting bigger. I told myself that i'll go on a diet the day i can wear a size 40 waist with no belt. Currently i wear a 36 so i have a few more years to indulge.Should i take my weight gain serious or just keep eating a let nature take it's course?
AnswerHello Jason!
Thank you for your nutrition question. I would take weight gain seriously because it can lead to problems such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure. I would recommend that you check out www.mypyramid.gov where you can create a healthy eating plan that is tailored to your calorie needs. All you have to do is enter your age, gender, and activity level. It also will tell you how many servings from each food group. Along with eating right make sure to get 30 minutes of physical activity daily.
