QuestionHi - I have gained about 40 pounds in the past two years. The most of it is in my waist area. I have lost energy which makes it hard to excersize. I need to know for menopausal women, I am 47 and going through menopause now, if I should elimate all breads, pastas, etc to loose or stick with whole grains, fruits, low fat dairy, lean meats,etc................. all the things I read can be very confusing
Thanks for your time
Susan
AnswerHi Susan,
Try getting rid of dairy - it only REMOVES calcium, not add it - countries that use the most dairy products have the most osteoporosis, and vice versa. Also, you can't use the protein in milk without the presence of fat, so low fat dairy is a double whammy.
Eat meat, eat whole grains, but don't eat them at the same time. Have a salad and a steak or a salad and a baked potato, but never all three within 4 hours. Protein is digested by acids, carbs by alkalis, they do not get along and waste a lot of your energy.
Guzzle up lots of plain water.
Get a total of 30 minutes breathing hard every day, can be 3 x 10 minutes, 6 x 5, 5 x 6, whatever. Walk brisky, dance around, anything. Do resistance training once a week, for 30 minutes altogether, 5 minutes for each of 6 muscle groups, just wear them out. Like 5 situps that take a minute each - non-stop, slow motion.
I liked black cohosh for hot flashes. In the vitamin section.
