QuestionI gained about seven pounds eating bad stuff. The I started the south beach diet. I have loss body fat but I'm still at the same weight. I have been dieting and exercising for 2 months, I do about 30 mins of cardio and some anaerobic exercise. I was told weight training could help raise my metabolism. The thing is I'm the same size, same weight but fitter. I'm afraid to cut more calories becasue I read that slows metabolism and makes the body store fat. Shall I cut more calories. I consume around 1300 and I'm 5'0. Thanks.
AnswerHello Lina!
Thank you for your nutrition question. Have you noticed whether your clothes are now fitting looser? Sometimes the scale is not always the best predictor of progress. I would not recommend cutting additional calories because it is not healthy for your metabolism.
It is possible if you include more weightlifting into your exercise program that it may increase how much fat your body burns and makie you leaner. Work with a personal trainer who can guide you in the right direction of what kind of exercises are best for you. I usually recommend dumbell curls because they help to tone up the biceps and burn fat. Working daily with light dumbells can work wonders for weight loss. You will be burning calories even after you have stopped working out.
