QuestionHello,
I am a 16 year old girl recovering from anorexia. I am 5'5. I am lifting weights and swimming as well as taking in a high balanced caloric diet. I am also using protein powders and shakes after workouts to make up for lost calories. On average I use two a day. One powder ( soy protein) and one shake (Boost high protein). Are these powders/ and shakes bad to take? I am also wondering if my weight will be distributed unevenly. I weighed about 90 lbs before and now I weigh about 105. I would still like to gain about 10 lbs. I don't want all this weight to go to my stomach.
Thanks so much!
Caity
AnswerDear Caity,
Boost and other protein shakes are good supplements to a healthy eating plan. The key word is supplement. You should still be eating a well rounded diet which includes foods from all the food groups. Don't worry, your body will use the protein shakes for rebuilding not for storing fat. Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
