QuestionWe have a history of obesity in my family so when I send my kids (2 and 4 yrs old) to preschool, I mostly send sandwiches with turkey lunch meat (rather than peanut butter/jelly). But I never knew these lunch meats had nitrates in them! I knew hot dogs had them, but not lunchmeat. I have been serving them lunchmeat nearly everyday for years. Have I increased their cancer risk? Is there a lunch meat that does not have nitrates?
