QuestionI've been working since January to lose weight. I've lost about 80 pounds this year (give or take), but I still have a long way to go. I've cut back on portion sizes and tried to eat more nutritiously, as well as exercising several times a week. I'm currently doing a hour on the treadmill about two or three times a week, working out with weights once or twice a week, and other aerobic activities once or twice a week. I generally end up exercising four or five days a week. My problem is that I've hit a plateau that has lasted a couple of months now, and I can't seem to get past it. Can you give me any advice to help me keep losing?
AnswerCongrats on the weight that you have lost!! That is great and something to really be proud of. As far as your weight plateau, it is extremely normal especially when you have lost so much weight! There are a couple things you can try to do to help out though. First of all really go back to looking at what and how much you are eating. At first you are so diligent about everything but after you have been doing it for awhile you can start to get off track and not realize it. Maybe you are eating a couple hundred calories more than you were in the beginning and that can make a difference! You can try keeping a food diary for just a few weeks to help you get back on track. Make sure you are really working out on the treadmill. Make sure you are challenging yourself! If you do say 3.2 mph and have been doing that for awhile and it is now getting easy then step it up a few! Just make sure you are working yourself out and that your workouts aren't getting too easy for you. Make sure you are drinking plenty of water each day, at least 64 ounces!
Since I don't know exactly what and how much you are eating that is the only general advice I can give you!
Good luck and don't give up! This can be an easy time to do that but the best thing you can do for yourself is keep trying and keep moving forward!
