QuestionI am 53, 40lbs overweight, stage III COPD w/02. I am currently working (attempting 40 hrs./wk) which is getting increasing difficult. I do not eat breakfast or lunch at work due to extreme fatigue, angina, SOB. I have found myself "grazing" which has seemed to help. Could you give me ideas of food to help me lose weight but not muscle mass. Food easily eaten at my desk. I find I eat my biggest meal at night when I get home from work because I know I won't have to extend as much energy...which is not helping me lose weight. My best days are when I am off work, I get a little work done around the house, eat breakfast, shop some (one day a week, groceries and necessary items....but then I am beat! Any advice would be appreciated.
AnswerMarilyn,
This is considered Medical Nutrition Therapy and not something I can do via this site. What you really need to do is see a dietitian who can properly instruct you on the foods that are appropriate for you and your medical condition. With your condition, what you eat or don't eat is extremely important.
My suggestion is to ask your doctor for a referral to a dietitian that specializes in COPD.
