My son once told me that he read somewhere that Diet Coke is not good for you, neither does it help you to lose weight. Please advise.
-----Answer-----
Hello Lanette!
Thank you for your nutrition question. Drinking diet coke exclusively might not be a good idea. It is not bad if only on occasion. Some people can be sensitive to sweeteners and experience symptoms such as headaches and upset stomach, but otherwise, there is no credible information that aspartame -- or any other artificial sweetener -- causes brain tumors however, you use them in moderation just to be on the safe side.

AnswerDear Lanette,
Thank you for your follow up question. Carbonated soft drink consumption may have adverse effects on bone mass density. In addition colas contain caffeine and phosphoric acid (H3PO4), which may adversely affect bone. They are especially bad for teen girls whose bones need all the calcium they can get for development.
