QuestionHi, I am a 24 y/o female, 5'7" tall and currently weigh 234lbs. I've decided that it's past time for me to do something about my current weight and health. I've started out by working out on my treadmill for at least 30mins, doing anywhere from 30-60 crunches and also try to engage in at least one other exercise-like activity everyday. I've also cut out sodas and fast foods and instead I'm having water or tea and salads or healthier foods like sandwiches and more fruits and veggies.
My question is that since I've just recently started this diet I haven't seen any progress to gauge myself on. I'm looking to lose about 11 inches on my waist by March which is my main goal. Is this realistic with the changes that I've made so far? About how much weight would I have to lose in order to see those 11 inches gone? What changes or suggestions would you make to help me realize my goal? Thank you for any help!
AnswerDear Rebecca, Everybody has a different body type, so you can't say that x amount of pounds will give you x amount of inches lost around the waist. Continue what you are doing with your exercise, the more the better. What I would add is calorie counting. You may be eating healthier, but that doesn't guarantee a weight loss. To lose weight, you have to have a calorie deficit. Try to eat around 1500-1800 calories per day. You can read labels, or go online with a free calorie counter to keep track. With your exercise and that amount of calories, you could expect to lose about 15-20 pounds by March. Losing weight takes time and patience, Happy New Year! Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
