QuestionI gave birth to my son 11 months ago (I was 19years old).
Before my pregnancy the heaviest I ever was was 130lbs, and I am 5'6". I even lost weight during the 1st trimester. Overall I gained around 70 lbs during my pregnancy. I've never had to lose weight in my life and this is the hardest thing ever. Do you have any tips? Keep in mind Im still breastfeeding my son. Thank You
AnswerHi Jamie, Try getting down to basics. Unfortunately healthy eating and exercise is the only way to get back to your pre-pregnancy weight. Breastfeeding is a boost because breast feeding burns calories. Try a 1500-1800 calorie diet containing healthy foods from the food triangle. Fruits, vegetables, whole grain breads, lean meats, fish, chicken, low fat dairy, and healthy fats like those found in salad oils and nuts are the foods you will want to eat. You will have enough calories to provide breast milk, plus you can lose 1-2 pounds per week provided you walk daily. Sorry, but you will have to keep track of your calories by reading labels and jotting down the totals. I personally use diet software I downloaded to keep track of my daily calories.
Always try to walk at least 30 minutes per day, you can take your baby with you. If you can hire a babysitter, get to a gym a few times per week. Good luck and I hope you can get started, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com
