Fitness challenge

Question
My boyfriend and I want to have a weight loss challenge competition, where we compete to see who can reach their goals before a certain date (sometime in July).  Since we are different genders, heights, etc. what should we use as a measurement tool?  BMI?  Measurements?  Ideal weight?

We are both doing workout programs seperately (I am running and lifting weights and he is playing sports with his friends).

Thanks,
Teresa

Answer
Hi Teresa,

What you and your boyfriend have planned sounds exciting! I think it is absolutely a very good way to lose weight. I understand your concern in finding a suitable way to judge since the both of you are very different. I would say, one of the best ways would be to judge by the percentage of bodyfat lost. The one who has lost the most percentage of body fat will thus win this challenge.

You can also judge by before and after pictures. You all could set a starting date for the challenge and take a full front photo of your bodies (preferably shirtless). When the challenge ends, take another full front photo of your bodies again. This way, you'll be able to see how much each of you has changed since embarking on the challenge! I've done it before and the results really motivated me a lot. =)

Hope this helps!

Regards,
Bryan
