QuestionQUESTION: hello.... my question is i have a 12 year old daughter who has lost about 15 lbs though better eating and exersize but still has some fat around her tummy and she worrys that it wont go away.... what can i do to help her though this time in her life and make her feel more confortable about her body?? also how many calories should a 12 year old girl have a day?? thank you.
ANSWER: Dear Richard, Your daughter is at a that delicate age where a girl becomes a woman. Body fat shifts from being stored in the belly to being stored in hips, thighs, breasts and belly area. Encourage daily exercise and healthy eating, and she will learn to accept herself as her bodies matures. The recommended dietary allowance of calories during adolescence is 2200 per day for girls. This amount is for someone with an average body weight and normal activity level. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer,Slimkids.com

QUESTION: hi...my question is my 14 year old daughter has been exercising sinse july and also has watched what she has eaten but has olny lost 10 pounds in 8 months...she dosent understand why she hasnt lost more...she is 5"5 and 148...is there anything you can suggest? thank you
AnswerDear Richard, My suggestion would be to figure out on average what amount of calories are being consumed on a daily basis. If she can cut out about 250 calories per day, and try to burn 100 extra calories with a 30 minute walk, she should lose 1-2 pounds every few weeks. Hope that helps, Laura Kraemer
