QuestionDear Dr. Ryan,
All are saying that soda (soft drinks)cause gaining weight, those on a diet should stay away from it. How about juices? We all know that vitamin C is destroyed when canned, so all juice that say the have vitamin C, are not saying the truth, beside they are full of sugar and preservatives. Are they healthy? In other words, do you recommend them for someone who is dieting?
Thank you,
AnswerYou might notice that the Vitamin C is added to the juices; it's not the original (just as you had stated the original is compromised by various processing.)
There are many juices that have no added sugars and no preservatives. Look for 100% juice on the label. That does not include brands like Minute Maid, Caprisun, or Hi-C. Buy nothing that has high fructose corn syrup, sucralose, maltodextrin, or other fancy names for sugar.
The best juice is homemade with a juicer. You know exactly what you're getting. I recommend juices for dieting quite often but only if they are 100% juice.
Thanks for the question, Dood. I hope the answer was helpful.
